Topfield creates Personal Video Recorders (PVR), which can be used to receive and record digital television channels. Also music (MP3) can be listened with Topfield products. Topfield features can be enhanced and corrected with TAPs (Topfield Application Programs). It is for example possible to watch digital camera images (e.g. jpg) and timers can be created automatically by search words using TAPs. It is also possible to correct bugs with 3rd party patches. This site lists all TAPs and patches developed for Topfield.

TGD Builder is a Java application which converts online programme information from the RadioTimes website, XMLTV files and ClickFinder database entries to the TAP-readable TGD format. It includes considerably more information than xmltv2tgd (for example). In order to simplify the TGD import, the epg_upload.ini file required by the TAPs is generated as well.

This great TAP replaces Topfield's own infobox and offers many other improvements as well. The main infobox shows usually current and next programs' information but it is also possible to show all future programs for the selected channel. Extended information as well as prime time programs can be viewed easily and even replays of the current show can be found from the EPG data. Recording and timer status can be seen as well easily. There is plenty of other useful data available to be viewed easily as well as other useful functions like FastJump for quickly skipping commercials and possibility to continue watching the file automatically where it was stopped last time. Don't you like the gray scheme? Don't worry, there is other color schemes as well.
