Topfield creates Personal Video Recorders (PVR), which can be used to receive and record digital television channels. Also music (MP3) can be listened with Topfield products. Topfield features can be enhanced and corrected with TAPs (Topfield Application Programs). It is for example possible to watch digital camera images (e.g. jpg) and timers can be created automatically by search words using TAPs. It is also possible to correct bugs with 3rd party patches. This site lists all TAPs and patches developed for Topfield.

The TF5000Display TAP enhances the information displayed in the 7-segment display of the Topfield PVR while the receiver is on. The TAP can be configured to provide the following information:
  • current time
  • channel name
  • record info: number/name of the channel being recorded and the remaining time
  • playback info: the elapsed/remaining playback time, pause display, MP3 info
  • warning if the HDD free size is below the specified threshold
Furthermore, the TAP provides several modes for the green and the amber LED.

Great tap
Really good tap and has worked always without any problems. With this tap you can get toppy to display time in the front panel all the time. 
 
Works also fine with TF5200PVRc.

Looks good
I got to say this really improves the display and makes it informative. It works great for me on a TF51000PVR. 
 
Thanks to the author for such a nice little utility, it makes a lot of difference. 
 
As a sidenote i can menion that I also use it to recognise when all TAPs have been loaded and the toppy will respond to the remote (and tell family/guests to just wait for the display to change into the "time" and they will be good to go (i have it changing between time/channel every 5 or so secs))
