Topfield creates Personal Video Recorders (PVR), which can be used to receive and record digital television channels. Also music (MP3) can be listened with Topfield products. Topfield features can be enhanced and corrected with TAPs (Topfield Application Programs). It is for example possible to watch digital camera images (e.g. jpg) and timers can be created automatically by search words using TAPs. It is also possible to correct bugs with 3rd party patches. This site lists all TAPs and patches developed for Topfield.

More help
noncom in UK forum:

IIRC, this is what I did.

1) Copy the TAP and associated files over to your ProgramFiles folder (not AutoStart).
2) Shut down your Toppy then restart without any TAPs running.
3) Run the HDFW TAP but don't take any action in it (which will automatically create a folder called something like HDFW/Firmwares...... check the threads for the proper name for this)
4) Close the HDFW TAP.
5) Copy the Firmware required and Patches (from the PatchPack zip, obviously unzip them first) to the folder HDFW just created.
6) Shut down and re-boot again, TAPless again. Don't know if this is necessary at all, actually.
7) Run HDFW. It will give you the option to Backup Current Firmware, which seems like a good idea.
Cool Then Select a Firmware from the list it gives you, and decide whether you want to Patch the Running Firmware (RAM - this will make any changes now, but be lost when you re-boot) or the permanent Firmware (Flash - this will change it until you deliberately change the Firmware again). If there are patches like the Rec Roundels or Check Your Reservation which you want to see whether you like them or not before committing yourself, you could do this in RAM if you want, but many of the patches relate to start-up and power options so can't be tested in RAM.
9) Click the box next to the Patches to Select / Deselect them.
10) Hit Rec to do the business. Let the Toppy re-boot if it wants to.

Help for 2.0b
FireBird:
.tap and .lng should be copied into the ProgramFiles folder. The ProfileEditor.tap can be used to play around with the colours of the dialog but is not needed to run HDFW. All patch files (*.ftp), firmware files (*.tfd) and optionally the aXeL loader (aXeL.tfd) should be copied into the folder ProgramFiles\HDFW_Firmware. It is automatically created upon the first launch of HDFW.
