This guide is for updating TAP or other items (like software or developer items). Word "TAP" means "TAP or other kind of item" in this guide.

You need appropriate rights to update TAPs. If you want to become TAPWorld updater, please let us know so that we can give you the updater rights.

NOTE: If TAP is hosted by TAPWorld (its location is www.tapworld.net/files/TAPs/...) TAP file has to be uploaded into TAPWorld first. Use this guide to upload updated TAP into TAPWorld.

1. When you have updater rights and you have logged into TAPWorld you will see Edit link behind TAP name. Use this link to update TAP.






2. Edit content page opens. This page is used to update TAP.  TAP version is part of the title. Change  version number from title.





3. We want updated TAP to be first item on frontpage and on the latest updates box, so update date has to be changed. Update date using 'Click this if VERSION HAS CHANGED!' button.
NOTE: If TAP's version has not been updated do not change date. Date should be changed only if TAP's version is changed.





4. If updated TAP's download link has been changed, it has to be changed also in this content editor.  Some TAP authors do change their file names based on version number. E.g. there can be files like this: tapname_1.0.zip, tapname_1.1.zip and tapname_2.0.zip. Download link should always point to the newest file.
Select download link (usually only world "Download").





5. Click insert/edit link button (button with chain).





6. Insert/edit link dialog looks different on different browsers. This kind of dialog opens when editing with Firefox browser. Change Link URL to point into newest TAP file.






7. Insert/edit link dialog looks different on different browsers. This kind of dialog opens when editing with Internet Explorer browser. Change Link URL to point into newest TAP file.






8. Click update button






9. Click save button to save changes. NOTE: If you don't want to make any changes use close button. It is IMPORTANT to close content editor with save or close buttons!
